Óbidos
on the Silver Coast
of Portugal
is only one hours' drive from
Casa das Flores Bed & Breakfast.
The town of Óbidos is situated inside the
walls of the original castle, which dominates the surrounding
countryside. The narrow cobbled streets flanked by whitewashed
houses are a delight to wander around and there is a good selection
of cafes and restaurants to rest your feet before climbing the
battlements to take in the view.
Óbidos regularly hosts a variety of festas
and festivals throughout the year including Vila Natal at Christmas,
Medieval Fare in July and of course the Chocolate Fair in February.
However the
town and the castle are interesting places to visit themselves even
when there are no special events taking place.
